Things have been pretty interesting around here, for several reasons, one of which is the Holidays that we’ve celebrated recently. Here in Panama November is known as the month of holidays. They celebrate many different things: Independence from Colombia, Flag day, Yell for independence from Spain, Independence from Spain, and Colon day. They celebrate these days by watching parades, going to the beach, shooting off fireworks, having a cookout, or just hanging out at the house.
These celebrations have been fun, and it’s neat to learn more about this culture, but this has caused us to think as well. It’s made us think about what reasons we have in our lives to celebrate. Some people get pretty excited for these National holidays, but the holidays are just a day that comes and goes. We hope that each of you can celebrate that you have a relationship with Jesus Christ. That is a reason to celebrate that nobody can take away from you, and it lasts forever! If you cannot celebrate that because you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, we encourage you to think about what that means in your life. Following Christ is the most important decision that either of us has ever made.
We feel like we have a lot to celebrate! Not only has Jesus gave us the gift of salvation through knowing him, he promises us a life of purpose and hope here on earth. This doesn’t mean we will all be rich and never have problems, it means that if we live as he wants us to, our lives will be full of many great things. Not void of problems and stresses, but full of love, joy, peace, hope, etc. For that we are celebrating today!
We hope that you can celebrate this with us. As Thanksgiving gets closer it’s easy to think about all the things we’re blessed with and thankful for. We try and have this type of attitude on a normal basis, not only being thankful, but celebrating what God has done in our lives!
Please keep Derek and others in your prayers this weekend. They will be leaving today (Friday) to travel to a village called Guabo (see prior post). They will be returning to Panama City Monday. Pray for travel safety, for the two Panamanian guys that are serving there as missionaries, and for the time of ministry they will have as they are there for a couple of days.
Thanks for keeping up with us, we hope that each of you are doing well.
Derek and Audrey Tucker
